40 degrees Celcius and climbing... Lets go Salmon Snorkeling...

The last three days have seen Bella Coola reach record high temperature for the Central Coast of BC! Although we are in a rain forest, ya wouldn't know it this week. The mercury crept higher over the weekend and on Wednesday we topped out at 41 C. So our crew went on a little salmon snorkeling trip to see if the river was any cooler...

Lots of whitefish, steelhead smolts, rainbow trout and a few of the massive Chinook (Spring) salmon were already there to greet us, and we all concurred 'in the water' is the place to be.

We finished our river clean up and had a couple of bags of 'uck' to take out of our pristine rivers, but amazingly, we had to look for things to cart away, so overall we can report a good sense of respect for the magnificent wilderness we operate in, by all users. Hats off to everyone.

River levels on the Bella Coola River are a little high these days (water levels) but when it cools it will drop fast and we are back on the mainstem.
